Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is a popular choice for a variety of industries due to the material’s versatility, antimicrobial properties, and aesthetic appeal. It contains a high percentage of chromium which helps it resist corrosion, staining, and rust. It is generally cost-effective, has a high degree of formability, and is exceptionally durable.

Competitive Metals is your go-to metal supply distributor for stainless steel materials, including tube, bar, angle, sheet, and wire mesh. Most of our products are offered in grade 304 stainless steel, but we also carry a limited inventory of grade 316 stainless steel. In-Stock & Ready-to-Ship Stainless Steel Products

304 & 316 Stainless Steel Tube

While exact sizes, thicknesses, and other configurations vary by your selected tube shape, Competitive Metals maintains one of the most comprehensive inventories of round, square, and rectangle stainless steel tube. Our in-stock stainless tube products are available in 10’ or 20’ lengths and can be used in many applications.

304 Stainless Steel Bar & Angle

We offer two varieties of stainless steel bar: round bar and flat bar. 304 stainless steel round bar is a good choice for general-purpose construction applications such as framing, braces, and more. Similarly, 304 stainless steel flat bar is a versatile product used widely throughout many structural applications.
304 stainless steel angle is a cost-effective material used to trim doors, windows, and other openings, adding an increased aesthetic appeal to your final product.

304 Stainless Steel Sheet & Wire Mesh

304 stainless steel sheet is available with a mill finish or brushed finish to match your requirements. 304 stainless steel #2B mill finish sheet is not polished and generally applied as plumbing fixtures, solar panels, and is stocked from 22 gauge up to 7 gauge. 304 stainless steel #4 brushed finish sheet features a brushed linear effect with a grainy finish. All sizes are offered with PVC coating on one side. Both sheet finishes have limited availability in 316 stainless steel.
304 stainless steel wire mesh is easily cut, formed, and welded to be used across any industry. Call 619-442-4130 for our current size availability.

Industrial Applications for Stainless Steel

Due to stainless steel's accessibility and performance capabilities, it is applied throughout many industries. Typical uses of stainless steel include:
  • Consumer goods
  • Medical and hygienic environments
  • Industrial equipment
  • Food processing plants
  • Marine and offshore applications
  • Chemical processing plants

304 Stainless Steel vs. 316 Stainless Steel

Competitive Metals stocks products made from 304 and 316 stainless steel. Both contain large amounts of nickel and chromium, making them applicable to jobs requiring corrosion resistance. 304 stainless steel is typically the better option when formability is required or when price is a determining factor. 316 stainless steel is an appropriate choice when the environment will contain high amounts of corrosive elements, if the material will be exposed to moisture or water, or when greater strength is required.
