Team Competitive Conquers Baja
As Rounds 11 and 12 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series approached, Team Competitive Metals drivers Brandon Arthur and Darren Hardesty Jr. got ready to take on their peers at the Estero beach track in Baja, Mexico. This would be the first time the Lucas Oil Off Road short course series would be racing at this location, and drivers would have to take on the unpredictable rhythm sections, sand and turns of the new track. Both crews journeyed down South to get ready for a weekend of action packed racing and unpredictable outcomes.
Despite the new track and rhythm sections Brandon said were a "game changer" in the competition, Brandon Arthur had an AWESOME weekend in the Pro Lite truck taking home a win and Fast Lap trophy on Saturday and a 2nd place finish on Sunday.
Brandon's speed and talent continue to show through his consistent podium finishes and ability to battle it out with fellow drivers through clean yet competitive and entertaining races. We look forward to seeing him battle it out again in just a couple weeks at Wild West Motorsports Park in Sparks, Nevada.
Pro Buggy driver, Darren "HotSauce" Hardesty Jr., struggled a bit on this new track, getting crossed up in the ruts and going sideways. This resulted in a flat tire and ultimately leaving him in 7th place on Saturday. Darren took this valuable track time as a way to learn from the setbacks and get ready for a new race Sunday. Darren had a great race Sunday and battled in out "back and forth for the lead" with Kevin McCullough a few times, and ultimately took home a 3rd place podium finish. The Baja fans cheered on Darren and the excitement for his podium finish was astonishing.
Overall, it was an exciting and successful new adventure in the short course off road racing season. Team Competitive Metals was ecstatic and proud of its talented drivers and hardworking crews! #WeConqueredBaja
